As President and Chief Investment Strategist - Fixed Income of Shay Assets Management, Inc., Mr. Shay, Jr. oversees the firm's portfolio management and trading operations. Prior to assuming this role in May, 2005, Mr. Shay, Jr. served as President of affiliated broker/dealer Shay Financial Services, Inc., a position he assumed in 1997. He joined the Shay organization in 1990, following the acquisition of Shay Financial Group, a brokerage boutique that he founded in 1988. Mr. Shay, Jr. began his career at Merrill Lynch in 1981 after receiving a B.A. in Economics from Colgate University the same year. In 1983, he was selected by the firm to trade U.S. Treasury Securities at Merrill's principal Asia trading facility based in Tokyo (1983 to 1985). He later returned to New York where he was appointed to run the Merrill Lynch CMO trading department (1985 to 1988). |
